ITC intumescent paint

Heat from fire causes a catalytic reaction within the smoke and flame retardant finish to emit an instant surface flame and smoke suppressant non-toxic vapour. Heat from fire then causes catalytic compound in ITC Paint Insulating Basecoat to react, making a “blowing agent” generate an internal foaming action contained within ITC Paint by a “char former”as it makes the char former expand. The char former creates a dense insulating layer. The insulating layer is hardened by hardening agents and given extra firmness by fire resistant fibres for lasting protection after expansion.

Coronavirus, Influenza & Bacteria

Coronavirus, flu and harmful bacteria remain contagious on emulsion painted walls for weeks. Surfaces coated with ITC Paint’s highly concentrated mix of safe, encapsulated nano-particle biocidal metals damage the shells of human coronaviruses and flu and the membranes of bacteria, so their death is greatly accelerated on the surface, they become vulnerable to our antibodies and their spikes ability to penetrate and act as a viral pathway into our lungs is notably reduced.

Anti-Virus Test Standards

Coronaviruses & Bacteria killed fast after they land on walls or wood protected with intumescent-paints Anti-Microbial SFR.

Human coronavirus

91.5% reduction of human coronaviruses in just 2 hours in approved ISO 21702 virus microbiology laboratory coated surfaces tests 16 Dec 2020.

Infectious bacteria

99.9% bacteria reduction in 24 hours in ISO 22196 tests for coated surfaces 5 Feb 2021.

ITC Paint provides permanent protection to supplement rather than replaces good hygiene.

Flamespread & Smoke

Wood and wood based boards are flammable, spread and intensify fire. In a fire ITC Paint insulating basecoat expands to create a firm fire-resistant insulation. ITC Paint Anti-Viral Smoke & Flame Retardant emits a nontoxic flame suppression vapour. Just one coat of each provides effective fire protection for internal wood to the approved standard for all areas including corridors, stairs entrances as well as rooms.

Maintenance

All interested parties, designer, specifier, main contractor and specialist installers should provide access to allow the fire stopping seals to be regularly inspected and maintained, as well as records kept of such maintenance at minimum periods of 12 months, as required by the Regulatory Reform Order, and repaired if necessary. Reference should be made to ASFP TGD 17 – Code of Practice for the Installation and Inspection of Fire Stopping.

Competency

It is vital that those entrusted to design or install a fire stopping product have the necessary levels of competence to undertake the task professionally and thoroughly. The level of competency required will be commensurate with the expected complexity of the building. All designers must eliminate, reduce or control foreseeable risks that may arise during installation, construction or maintenance when preparing or modifying designs. Clients should ensure that the principal designer and principal contractor carry out their duties under CDM regulations. The ASFP foundation course in passive fire protection provides essential knowledge as part of demonstrating competency and understanding in this key fire protection specialism.
