IWC intumescent paint
IWC Paint insulating basecoat expands to create a firm fire-resistant insulation. IWC Paint Anti-Viral Smoke & Flame Retardant emits a non-toxic flame suppression vapour. Just one coat of each provides effective fire protection to the current approved fire standards for all areas including corridors, stairs entrances as well as rooms.
Coronavirus, Influenza & Bacteria
Coronavirus, flu and harmful bacteria remain contagious on emulsion painted walls for weeks. Surfaces coated with IWC Paint’s highly concentrated mix of safe, encapsulated nano-particle biocidal metals damage the shells of human coronaviruses and flu and the membranes of bacteria, so their death is greatly accelerated on the surface, they become vulnerable to our antibodies and their spikes ability to penetrate and act as a viral pathway into our lungs is notably reduced.
Anti-Virus Test Standards
Coronaviruses & Bacteria killed fast after they land on walls or wood protected with intumescent-paints Anti-Microbial SFR.
Human coronavirus
91.5% reduction of human coronaviruses in just 2 hours in approved ISO 21702 virus microbiology laboratory coated surfaces tests 16 Dec 2020.
Infectious bacteria
99.9% bacteria reduction in 24 hours in ISO 22196 tests for coated surfaces 5 Feb 2021.
IWC Paint provides permanent protection to supplement rather than replaces good hygiene.
Flamespread & Smoke
The Fire Safety Order 2005 requires property managers to comply with current fire standards for corridors, stairways, entrance lobbies etc.
Multiple layers of incompatible paints can create a surface spread of flame risk from moderate Class 2 to severe Class 4.
Old Class 0 is superseded by BS EN Class B s1 d0 which protects from toxic gases & smoke as well as flamespread (high toxic smoke is s3 or s4, severe flaming droplets is d2 or d3).
Common wall paints pre-2010 contained Timonox antimony to emit antimony-chloride – a flame retardant but highly toxic gas.
Extreme flammability foam insulation which emits cyanide gas is installed in millions of buildings’ internal walls and ceilings, creating an even greater need to control flamespread.

Durability & Microbial Resistance
High concentration of pure acrylic resin hardenend and smoothed with polyurethane avoid microbial safe havens created by all the cheap powders in even the most expensive very matt emulsions, making IWC Paints suitable for areas subject to regular cleaning regimes. IWC Paint’s metal-based biocides do not leach out with humidity or during cleaning to provide permanent virus and bacteria protection.

Reference should be made to ASFP TGD 17 – Code of Practice for the Installation and Inspection of Fire Stopping.
Competency
It is vital that those entrusted to design or install a fire stopping product have the necessary levels of competence to undertake the task professionally and thoroughly. The level of competency required will be commensurate with the expected complexity of the building. All designers must eliminate, reduce or control foreseeable risks that may arise during installation, construction or maintenance when preparing or modifying designs. Clients should ensure that the principal designer and principal contractor carry out their duties under CDM regulations.
