IWC paint is an intumescent undercoat for application to previously painted plaster, Artex, board, brick and concrete walls and ceilings to upgrade walls and ceilings coated with multi-layered paint films to Class 0. The build up of old paint layers due to repeated over painting can be a fire hazard. Non-combustible surfaces such as plaster-board and brick can present a fire hazard due to old paint layers delaminating and spreading fire; in extreme cases a lethal "flash- over" fireball effect is created. The risks can be greatly reduced by using a combination of an insulating "intumescent" barrier coating, IWC paint, and a decorative top coat of our flame retardant paint. When exposed to a fire the flame retardant paint topcoat releases a flame extinguishing gas which instantly protects the surface. Simultaneously heat activates the IWC intumescent coating underneath to create a fire protective barrier, insulating old paint films from heat and oxygen. IWC Paint is available in 5 kilo and 20 kilo containers. |
